Points for Choosing Screws and Nails

Are you unsure about how to choose the right screws and nails? Here are some selection points!

We have over 20,000 types of stock available, and we will help you find the screws and nails that suit your needs from these ready-made products. If that does not meet your requirements, we can create custom-made options. Depending on the base material and the items used to secure it, we need to consider various factors such as holding power, workability, corrosion resistance, strength, and finish in a comprehensive manner. Let's understand the points and use the appropriate items. 【Points for selecting screws and nails】 ■ Holding power ■ Workability ■ Corrosion resistance ■ Strength ■ Finish *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

About the corrosion resistance of screws and nails

We will introduce methods to maintain the corrosion resistance of screws and nails!

Corrosion resistance is a very important point in the selection of screws and nails. One method to enhance corrosion resistance is surface treatment. Surface treatments include electroplating, where metal is electrolyzed and deposited on the surface; hot-dip galvanizing, where metal is melted and coated like a garment; and painting, where resin or metal powder is applied. In addition, material and galvanic corrosion are also key points in selecting screws and nails with high corrosion resistance. **Points for Selecting Corrosion-Resistant Screws and Nails** - Surface treatment - Material - Galvanic corrosion *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

Regarding the finish of screws and nails.

For those concerned about appearance! Here are examples of well-finished screws and nails.

Screws and nails are important not only for their functionality but also for their appearance. When considering the finish of screws and nails, the key points are "surface treatment" and "shape." By applying surface treatment (such as painting) mainly to the heads of screws and nails, their appearance can be improved, or by matching the color with the material, the heads of the screws and nails can be made less noticeable. Conversely, there are cases where items like decorative nails, tacks, and chrysanthemum nails are used to stand out (by adding decorations). [Product Development Case] Examples and Achievements of Fasteners for Securing Roofing Materials

We would like to introduce examples of product development for screws and nails that we have proposed!

We would like to introduce a case study on the development of fasteners proposed by Yamaki Sangyo for securing cement flat roof materials to fire-resistant sheathing. The customer's request was to secure the roofing materials to the fire-resistant sheathing. Since the substrate is made of inorganic material rather than fibrous material, there was a significant issue with fasteners being prone to loosening, and there was concern that if the heads of the fasteners were not flat, the roofing materials would crack when walked on. Therefore, we proposed using screws instead of nails. Additionally, we used a special flexible material with grooves in the countersunk part of the screw to ensure that the screw heads would not protrude above the surface. Through these innovations, we were able to propose screws that meet the customer's requirements. 【Case Study】 ■ Issues - Fasteners are very prone to loosening when secured to inorganic substrates. - If the heads are not flat, roofing materials may crack when walked on. ■ Proposal - Use screws instead of nails. - Use a special flexible material with grooves in the countersunk part of the screw to ensure the screw heads are flush with the material. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

About the work efficiency of screws and nails.

Improve work efficiency by choosing the right screws and nails! Here are some tips to enhance work efficiency!

To improve work efficiency, it is necessary to consider various factors for each site where fasteners (screws, nails) are used, ensuring that tasks can be performed easily, quickly, and with one less step, depending on the objectives. The two key points for enhancing work efficiency are "connection" and "shape." Even with the same screws or nails, connecting them and using a machine for installation allows for one-handed operation, rather than manually hammering or tightening them individually. Additionally, there are methods to make the product's body shape less prone to disengagement through processing. [Points for Improving Work Efficiency] ■ Connection ■ Shape *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
